The LA/SPCA is issuing the following preparedness information to assist all pet owners.

Special Needs Preparation
In the event of a dangerous storm striking the state this Hurricane Season, the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) and the Department of Social Services (DSS) are prepared to open Special Needs Shelters, or shelters of last resort for those with special medical needs who have no other options for care.

First Aid Supplies
Here are some things to have in your first-aid kit. Keep all items in a waterproof container.

Keep a two-week supply of all basic foods on hand throughout hurricane season. Replace stored goods every six months.
